About Kent WONG Siu Kee: Joined Chow Tai Fook in 1977 as an apprentice and promoted to Managing Director in 2011, Wong has devoted himself to the industry for over four decades. About Lawrence MA Yung Yi: Starting his career in the family jewellery business four decades ago, Ma founded MaBelle Jewelry in the early 1990s, a diamond jewellery brand that speaks to a broader market comprising largely of aspirational consumers. Importantly, it is a non-commercial initiative with a utility pricing model.
A pilot phase with other producers and leading global retailers successfully proved its ability to trace diamonds at industrial scale along the entire value chain.
Apart from reassurance, the system will add value to the diamond business on many levels as well as providing a rich story about each individual stone to add value to the retailer and consumer.

Creativity and innovation are amongst the key cornerstones of KGK, with time, cost, quality and cycle time as core aspect. Be it design and implementation, manufacturing techniques or technology advancement, these two components play a guiding role.
KGK introduced 3 innovative techniques to improve quality and productivity in diamond manufacturing.
SARVA - This machine was built to meet the challenges of time cycle, cost, quality and accidents in diamonds. This machine has capacity of processing 5 to 6 processes and reduces process time, reduce cost and consistency.
DHRUVA - This machine can stick diamonds from the top as well as from the bottom automatically without human extracting the stone for the sticking from one side to the other. It has multiple curing systems (light and heat) as well. This can be used to stick the stone for any process (eg. Laser sawing, 4p, Brutting, blocking top, Blocking bottom & Table).
The above technology helps save time, cost, improve accuracy, and lowers inventory carrying cost.
ZIVA - This machine has a facility to map the diameter to the level of 3rd digit, eg. Up till now, machines have been accurate only till 0.10 in final brutting process, in ZIVA it has 0.104 (3rd digit)
The above facility will help to polish the diamonds in best aligned facets due to its enhanced accuracy in round shape increasing the selection at one go.
This machine will help to provide improved customer service and can provide stones with close tolerance in diameter. This helps save time, cost (due to less repair) and avoid further investment on other stones & yield benefits.

What the judges have to say: In the last decade, a remarkable transformation has taken place at the site of one of the best known emerald mines in Columbia. Thanks to co-operation with the Columbian government, the leadership of an ex US Ambassador and investment from the USA, the Muzo Companies have turned a failed mining operation, beset with corruption and environmental challenges, into a viable range of businesses that go well beyond mining.
The Muzo Companies have set up cutting, polishing, and marketing facilities to add employment and beneficiation within the country and enabled a stone tracking system to add confidence to downstream buyers and consumers.
Locally the company has improved the environment and set up a cacao plantation to bring additional jobs to the local community. A positive example of mining doing good.
